On April 15, the SCImago Journal & Country Rank 2025 has been published. This ranking is based on journals indexed in the SCOPUS database (Elsevier) since 1996. This update incorporates the new SJR values, quartiles, and other bibliometric metrics for scientific journals indexed in Scopus, while maintaining the calculation methodology based on the prestige of the citations received.
Journals can be grouped by subject area (27 main subject areas), by subject category (313 specific subject categories), or by country.
This edition includes data on 32,193 resources:
- Journals – 30,412, of which 11,117 are Open Access, and of those, 4,443 are Diamond Open Access
- Book Series – 930, of which 36 are Open Access and 9 of those are Diamond Open Access
- Conferences and Proceedings – 688, of which 24 are Open Access and 11 of those are Diamond Open Access
- Trade Journal – 180, of which 4 are Open Access and 1 of those is Diamond Open Access
Looking at Spain, there are a total of 826 resources, of which 812 are journals, 6 are book series, and 8 are conferences and proceedings. 653 resources are open access, and 524 of those are diamond open access. These figures show a clear predominance of open-access journals and, in particular, the Diamond Open Access model, which accounts for more than 80% of the country’s open-access publications.
As part of this commitment to Diamond Open Access to research results, the 13 journals published in PoliPapers, which appear in this edition of the SCimago Journal Rank. In the rankings for their respective categories, 3 journals have achieved or maintained their position in the Q1, 6 on the Q2 and 4 in the Q3.
