New edition of #HiloTesis contest for doctoral students

Contest “Your doctoral thesis in a Twitter thread: HiloTesis”. The aim of this contest is to promote the development of communication and scientific dissemination skills among PhD students and recent doctors.

Crue Universitats Espanyoles, in collaboration with the Xarxa de Divulgació i Cultura Científica (RedDivulga) of the sectorial Crue I+D+i, launches the third edition of the contest “La teua tesi doctoral en un fil de Twitter: HiloTesis”. The aim of this contest is to promote the development of communication and scientific dissemination skills among PhD students and recent doctors of the universities that are part of Crue.

To do so, they must explain their doctoral thesis in a maximum of 20 tweets, in a simple, accessible and attractive language. In the last edition of #HiloTesis more than 300 people from 47 universities participated.

The three awards will have, for the first time, an economic endowment of 1,000 euros each, thanks to the funding provided by the Larramendi Foundation, whose collaboration has materialized with the signing of an agreement.

The contest: terms and instructions

The contest will run from 00.00:00:00 on 1 May to 23.59:00 on 7 May 2023. The participating researcher-in-training personnel must, once the thread has been published, register and provide the link to their thread through the following form:https://forms.office.com/e/ah4zz8ygpd.
The children published and/or registered through the form outside this period will not be taken into account.

The first tweet of the thread must quote or tag @RedDivulga, @filarramendi and @upv in an image and end with “Òbric #HiloTesis”. Once the participant’s children have been received through the form, the contest organization will send them to the contact person at each university. The threads that do not comply with these conditions will be rejected and only one thread per participant will be considered.

Each participating university will select, within a period of two calendar days after the end of the contest, a finalist film that will be sent to the organization for evaluation by the national jury proposed by RedDivulga. This jury will be made up of at least five members -one of them a communications expert- and a representative of the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation. The judging will take place between June 1 and 7, 2023 and the authors of the winning films will be from three different universities.

The best UPV filer will participate in the national stage

They can participate in #Hilotesis doctorandes and doctorands UPV who have satisfactorily passed at least one evaluation of the progress of their research plan, or people who have defended their doctoral thesis within a maximum period of six months prior to the start date of the competition, which, remember, begins on 1 May.

From among all of the films presented at the UPV, a jury made up of personnel from the Doctoral School and the Communications Department will select the film that will represent this university in the national phase of the competition. The author of this film will also be able to present it at the VIII UPV Doctoral Students Meeting, which will be held on May 25th.
