PhD in Propulsion Systems for Transport
As established by the applicable regulations, the PhD programme shall include, in addition to the completion of the PhD dissertation, the PhD candidate’s completion of specific and cross-curricular training activities.
Each training activity is assigned an equivalent number of hours. PhD students must complete a minimum of 600 equivalent hours through various training activities in order to submit their PhD dissertation; of these, at least 10 percent (60 hours) must correspond to cross-curricular training courses.
The equivalent hours assigned to each type of activity, as well as the maximum number of hours that may be recognised, have been established by the Academic Committee of this PhD programme for its students.

Important points to bear in mind:
- (*) Co-authorship factor: For research articles and conference presentations involving five or more co-authors, the number of equivalent hours assigned shall be multiplied by the factor 4 divided by the number of authors.
- Q3/Q4 articles: Publications in journals ranked in Q3 or Q4 may be recognised as 100 hours, rather than 80 hours, where the journals are considered particularly relevant to the programme.
- Total equivalent hours required for the defence: To submit the PhD dissertation, students must have completed at least 600 equivalent hours, of which at least 100 hours must correspond to the research articles block.
- Compulsory cross-curricular training: Newly admitted PhD students must complete the course “PhD Training at UPV” (10 hours).
- Updated requirement for research stays: Recognition of 200 hours now requires a minimum stay of three months, replacing the previous two-month requirement.
