PhD in Food Science, Technology, and Management
As established by the applicable regulations, doctoral training shall include, in addition to the completion of the PhD thesis, the completion by the PhD candidate of specific and cross-curricular training activities.
Each training activity is assigned a number of equivalent hours. PhD candidates must complete a minimum of 600 equivalent hours through the various training activities in order to submit their thesis. Of these, at least 10% (60 hours) must correspond to cross-curricular training courses.
The equivalent hours assigned to each type of activity, as well as the maximum number of equivalent hours that may be recognised, have been established by the Academic Committee of this PhD programme for its students.

Important points to keep in mind:
- Total-hour requirement: To submit a doctoral thesis, PhD candidates must have completed at least 600 equivalent hours of training.
- Cross-curricular minimum: Of the total 600 equivalent hours, at least 10% (60 hours) must correspond to cross-curricular training courses.
- Required course: New PhD candidates are required to take the course “Doctoral Education at UPV” (10 hours).
- Industrial doctorates: In the case of industrial doctorates, the minimum and maximum limits established for specific activities do not apply due to potential confidentiality agreements.
- Monitoring and record-keeping: All activities must be recorded on the SENIA platform and must include a report from the thesis supervisor and approval from the Academic Committee in order to be recognised in the doctoral activities record.
