PhD in Architecture, Building, Urban Planning, and Landscape Architecture
As established in the applicable regulations, PhD training shall include, in addition to the completion of the PhD thesis, the completion by the PhD candidate of specific and cross-disciplinary training activities.
Each training activity is assigned a value in equivalent hours. PhD students must complete a minimum of 600 equivalent hours through the different training activities before they can submit their thesis, of which at least 10 per cent (60 hours) must correspond to cross-disciplinary training courses.
The number of equivalent hours assigned to each type of activity, as well as the maximum recognised value, has been established by the Academic Committee of this PhD Programme for its students, taking into account whether they are enrolled full-time or part-time.

Important aspects to bear in mind:
- Hours requirement: In order to submit the thesis, students must have completed at least 600 total hours of training.
- Cross-disciplinary minimum: At least 10 per cent (60 hours) of the total number of hours must correspond to cross-disciplinary training.
- Validity of activities: As a general rule, activities completed more than one year before joining the programme are not considered specific training activities.
- Exception for additional merits: Activity 13 (Additional merits) may include activities related to the thesis completed during the four years prior to first enrolment.
- Pro rata calculation by authorship: For publications and papers with more than 4 authors, the hours are calculated using the following formula: hours x 4 / number of authors.
