PhD in Architecture, Building, Heritage, and Urban Studies
As established by the applicable regulations, PhD training shall include, in addition to the completion of the doctoral thesis, the completion by the PhD candidate of specific and cross-disciplinary training activities.
Each training activity is assigned a number of equivalent hours. PhD students must complete a minimum of 600 equivalent hours through a range of training activities before submitting their doctoral thesis. At least 10% (60 hours) of these must correspond to cross-disciplinary training activities.
The equivalent number of hours assigned to each type of activity, together with the maximum number of hours that may be recognised, has been established by the Academic Committee of this PhD programme, taking into account whether the student is enrolled on a full-time or part-time basis.

Important points to keep in mind:
- Minimum requirement: Before submitting the doctoral thesis, PhD students must have completed at least 600 hours of recognised training activities.
- Cross-disciplinary training: At least 10% (60 hours) of the total must correspond to cross-disciplinary training activities.
- Validity of activities: As a general rule, activities completed more than one year before enrolment in the programme will not be recognised as specific training activities.
- Exception for additional merits: Under Activity 13 (Additional merits), activities related to the doctoral thesis completed during the four years prior to first enrolment may be recognised.
- Allocation by authorship: For publications and conference contributions with more than four authors, the recognised hours are calculated using the formula: hours × 4 / number of authors.
