PhD in Construction Engineering
As established by the applicable regulations, PhD training shall include, in addition to the completion of the PhD dissertation, the PhD candidate’s completion of specific and cross-curricular training activities.
Each training activity is assigned an equivalent number of hours. PhD students must complete a minimum of 600 equivalent hours through various training activities in order to submit their PhD dissertation; of these, at least 10 percent (60 hours) must correspond to cross-curricular training courses.
The equivalent hours assigned to each type of activity, as well as the maximum number of hours that may be recognised, have been established by the Academic Committee of this PhD programme for its students. Details of the equivalent hours are provided in the table below.

Important points to bear in mind:
- Overall requirement: To submit a PhD dissertation, students must have completed at least 600 equivalent hours of training activities.
- Compulsory allocation: At least 10 percent of the total equivalent hours (60 hours) must correspond to cross-curricular training.
- CAPD assessment: The recognition of equivalent hours for specific activities is subject to the final decision of the Academic Committee of the PhD Programme (CAPD).
- Recommendation: Full-time students are recommended to complete their cross-curricular training during the first academic year. Specific dissemination activities, such as conference participation and journal publications, should preferably begin from the second academic year onwards.
