The Narrative Workshop at UPV’s Lifelong Learning Centre has, for nine years, been a meeting place where budding writers and literary enthusiasts have been able to share their work and opinions. The course has two fundamental objectives: to introduce students to a wide range of techniques and approaches to literature, and to encourage them to write more elaborate and complex narrative texts.

The course syllabus is designed to provide novice writers with the tools to solve the main obstacles that arise during literary creation. At the same time, it aims to stimulate returning students to tackle more personal and mature narrative forms. The 2017-2018 course will revolve around the short story and its many forms: from horror to fantasy, realism and science fiction, we will explore the creative possibilities of this genre. A reading of the most emblematic authors of the genre will serve as a guide to discovering the mechanisms of fiction and the course exercises will help students to become familiar with the different narrative styles.
