Erasmus Digitalization – Introduction and implementation at the UPV
Erasmus Digitalisation, or the “European Student Card Initiative”, is a digitalization project that seeks to establish an automatic connection between the computer systems and tools of all institutions participating in the Erasmus+ program. This connection is creating a network for automatic data exchanges of student and staff mobility or EWP Network.
Institutions may connect to the EWP Network in 3 different ways:
1. With their local mobility software (in-house mobility system)
2. With commercial software (third-party provider), like MoveON, Mobility Online, etc.
3. Through the website EWP Dashboard
UPV is currently connected to EWP with a combination of the 1st and 3rd options.d options.
Inter-institutional agreements (IIAs) – signing of digital agreements
SErasmus mobility and agreements are decentralized in our institution. Each School and Faculty has its own international office, responsible for the agreements of their study areas.
When UPV staff initiate EWP: expect to receive as many agreements as UPV Schools or Faculties you have cooperation with. The agreements may not all arrive at the same time into your system, as they will be initiated by different members of staff at UPV.
If you initiate an EWP agreement: as far as possible, we kindly ask you to select the specific “Organisational Unit” at UPV (School or Faculty) and to send separate agreements for each UPV School or Faculty.
Many partners are familiar with our decentralized structure. For some partners, this may be a challenge..

Study agreements – OLAs (Online Learning Agreements)
Since 2023, UPV is connected to the EWP Network to exchange and approve Online Learning Agreements (OLAs), both for incoming and outgoing students.
OLAs – UPV outgoing Erasmus students
We actively encourage our outgoing mobility students to use Online Learning Agreements for intra-European mobility, as suggested by our National Agency.
However, when a partner university is not ready to exchange OLAs yet, we can also sign a traditional PDF Learning Agreement.
Currently, UPV students initiate their OLA’s on the website www.learning-agreement.eu. Afterward, UPV staff sign OLA’s with the tool EWP Dashboard.
OLAs – Incoming Erasmus students
Incoming students are kindly requested to send their OLA’s for review only after they have submitted their full application for admission to UPV as exchange students (not the local application in their home institution, but a full Erasmus application sent through the UPV’s website for exchange students).
When creating an OLA, incoming students must select the relevant contact persons and emails at UPV, which are different depending on the host School or Faculty at UPV they have applied to.
| Inter-institutional agreements (IIAs) – signing of digital agreements |
Since January 2025, the UPV can sign Erasmus+ agreements through EWP using its own local application for mobility programs (AIRE).
The management of mobility and Erasmus agreements is decentralized in our institution. Each School and Faculty has its own international office, responsible for the agreements in their areas of study.
When UPV staff initiate an EWP:Each partner university will receive as many agreements as the number of UPV Schools or Faculties with which it collaborates. It is possible that the agreements will not all arrive at the same time to your system, as they will be initiated by different people within the UPV.
If the partner institution initiates an EWP agreement: If possible, we kindly ask our partners to select the “-” option.Organisational Unit“The UPV (School or Faculty) and to send separate agreements for each School or Faculty of the UPV.
Many members are familiar with our decentralized structure. For others, this may be a bit complicated to understand.
| Study agreements – OLAs (Online Learning Agreements) |
Since 2023, the UPV is connected to the EWP network for the exchange and signing of Online Learning Agreements (OLAs).
OLAs – outgoing UPV students (outgoings)
From the beginning of the process, we recommend all our outgoing intra-European mobility students to use OLA, as suggested by SEPIE.
When a partner university is not prepared to sign OLAs, we accept PDF Learning Agreements.
Currently, UPV students initiate their OLA on the European web www.learning-agreement.eu. Subsequently, UPV staff sign the OLAs with the EWP Dashboard tool.
OLAs – incoming students (incomings)
Students are kindly requested to submit their OLA for review only after they have submitted their complete application for admission to the UPV as exchange students (not the local application at their home institution, but a complete Erasmus application submitted through the UPV website for exchange students).
When creating an OLA, students must select specific contact persons and e-mail addresses at UPV, which are different depending on the UPV school or faculty of destination.
