PhD in Animal Production Science and Technology
As established by the applicable regulations, doctoral training shall include, in addition to the completion of the PhD thesis, the completion by the PhD candidate of specific and cross-curricular training activities.
Each training activity is assigned a number of equivalent hours. PhD candidates must complete a minimum of 600 equivalent hours through the various training activities in order to submit their thesis. Of these, at least 10% (60 hours) must correspond to cross-curricular training courses.
The equivalent hours assigned to each type of activity, as well as the maximum number of equivalent hours that may be recognised, have been established by the Academic Committee of this PhD programme for its students (last updated on 1 February 2025).

Important points to keep in mind:
- Overall requirement: To submit a doctoral thesis, PhD candidates must have completed at least 600 equivalent hours of training.
- Distribution: Of the total 600 equivalent hours, at least 10% (60 hours) must correspond to cross-curricular training courses.
- Required course: All incoming PhD candidates must take “Doctoral Training at UPV” (10 hours), which forms part of the cross-curricular training block.
- Monitoring: All activities must be recorded on the online platform (SENIA/Thesis Management) and approved by the thesis supervisor for validation by the Academic Committee.
- Deadlines: Any additional training requirements, if assigned, must be completed during the first academic year. The Research Plan must be approved within the first year.
