Specific and Cross-curricular Training Activities

Doctorate in Agricultural Resources and Technologies

According to the applicable regulations, doctoral training shall include, in addition to the completion of the doctoral thesis, the performance by the doctoral student of specific and cross-curricular training activities.

Each training activity has a valuation in equivalent hours. The doctoral student will have to obtain a minimum of 600 equivalent hours in the development of the different training activities in order to present the thesis, of which at least 10 percent (60 hours) will correspond to cross-curricular training courses.

The evaluation in equivalent hours of each type of activity, as well as the maximum recognized evaluation, have been established by the Academic Committee of this Doctoral Program for its students.

Participation in CongressesAt most, each contribution presented by the doctoral student in the form of a poster is equivalent to 50 hours, and each oral presentation 80 hours. This evaluation includes the publication of the abstract.
In case the contribution is not presented by the PhD student, the maximum evaluation will be multiplied by a factor equal to 0.8. The maximum valuation of the participation of the doctoral student in the congress without presenting any contribution will be 30 hours.
If, in addition to the publication of the Abstract, the congress publishes the contributions in the form of “Proceedings with peer review”, each published contribution will be additionally valued at a maximum of 50 hours.
The ratings indicated correspond to national congresses; if the congress is of an international nature, the final rating will be multiplied by a factor equal to 1.2.
The evaluation of the presentation of the contribution by the doctoral student, or of the participation in the congress, will require the presentation of the corresponding certificate.
Stays in research centers or companies0Each 1 month stay, related to the PhD student’s Research Plan and carried out in research centers (or companies) other than the ones where he/she usually carries out his/her research, is equivalent to a maximum of 50 hours.
Stays of more or less than 1 month will be valued proportionally. The maximum value recognized in this activity will be 300 hours.
Attendance to courses (seminars, tutorials,…) of interest for their training at the discretion of the Doctoral Program Committee.1 course of 10 hours will be equivalent to a maximum of 2 points (20 hours). When the course is longer than 10 hours, it will be valued proportionally.
The minimum duration for this activity to be recognized is 10 hours, and the duration of different courses may be accumulated when their individual duration is less than 10 hours.
Creation of products related to the doctoral thesis.Depending on the importance of the patents or copyrights, up to 200 hours for each.
