Access requirements for new PhD students:

We can summarize the income profiles:
A) Students with an official Spanish Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management and with a Master’s Degree from our Doctoral Program (Master’s Degree in Financial and Tax Management, Master’s Degree in Business, Product and Service Management): They will have passed at least 300 credits, 60 of which correspond to the Master’s Degree level. These students have acquired the necessary skills to start their doctoral thesis in the Program both at academic level and in terms of the required level of English, which is B2, as well as having completed the Master’s Thesis, which shows their research skills at Master’s level. Therefore, in this profile, it is not necessary to do Complementary Training.

B) Students with an official Spanish or foreign Bachelor’s or Bachelor’s Degree in another area but who have a Master’s Degree from our Doctoral Program (Master’s Degree in Financial and Tax Management, Master’s Degree in Management of Companies, Products and Services): They will have passed at least 300 credits, 60 of which correspond to the Master’s Degree level. Having completed one of the Masters of the Program, given the requirements of these Masters, this guarantees that these students have acquired the necessary skills to initiate their doctoral thesis in the Program both academically and in terms of the required level of English, which is B2, as well as having completed the Master’s thesis that demonstrates their research skills at the Master’s level. In this profile, it is not necessary that
to carry out training complements.

C) Students with an official Spanish or foreign degree and with a Master’s degree in another official Spanish doctoral program: They will have passed at least 300 credits, 60 of them corresponding to the Master’s degree. In this case, the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will evaluate the merits provided, approving and requesting the student to take the complementary training credits or rejecting the request. The complementary training may consist of the completion of subjects of any of the Master of the Program and will include in any case the completion of a Research Project whose evaluation will be carried out in the same way as the Master’s Thesis.

D) Students in possession of a degree obtained in accordance with foreign educational systems, without the need for its homologation, after verification by the university that it accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish Master’s degree and that it entitles the student to access doctoral studies in the country issuing the degree. In this case, the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will evaluate the merits provided, approving and requesting the student to take the complementary training credits or rejecting the application. The complementary training may consist of the completion of subjects of any of the Masters of the Program and will include in any case the completion of a Research Project whose evaluation will be carried out in the same way as the Master’s Thesis.

E) Students with an official Spanish Bachelor’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree and with subjects passed in the old doctoral programs: In this case the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will evaluate the merits provided, approving and requesting the student to take the complementary training credits or rejecting the application. The complementary training may consist of the completion of subjects of any of the Master’s Program and will include in any case the completion of a Research Project whose evaluation will be carried out in the same way as the Master’s Thesis.

Evaluation of the merits provided:
The Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program will evaluate the merits provided.
In order for a student to be admitted, he/she must obtain a minimum score of 75 out of 100 points.

It will be valued with the following percentage weights:

• Academic qualification = 30%.
• University Master’s Degree = 40%.
• Master’s academic record= 20%.
• Other merits = 10% Other merits = 10% Other merits = 10% Other merits = 10% Other merits = 10%

In turn, each merit will be corrected with an affinity coefficient that can be 0 if the affinity with the doctoral program is null and 1 when the entry profile is A) and therefore, the affinity is maximum.

Rating rubric:

ACADEMIC DEGREES (30 points maximum))
Affinity coefficients by degree:

• ADE or GAP: 1.0
• Engineering/Architecture / Other degrees UPV: 0.95
• Other degrees: 0.85

Average grade point average:

• 9.0-10: 30 points
• 8.0-8.9: 25 points
• 7.0-7.9: 20 points
• 6.0-6.9: 18 points
• 5.0-5.9: 15 points

UNIVERSITY MASTER’S DEGREE (40 points maximum)
Affinity coefficients by type of master’s degree:

• Master’s Degree in Financial and/or Tax Management or Business, Product and Service Management, GEPS: 1.0
• Other UPV master’s degrees: 0.9
• Other masters with a similar curriculum to the program’s masters (Financial Management and GEPS masters): 0.85
• Other masters: 0.80
• Base score: Full Master’s Degree: 40 points

MASTER’S ACADEMIC ACADEMIC RECORD (20 points maximum)

Average grade:

• 9.0-10: 20 points
• 8.0-8.9: 18 points
• 7.0-7.9: 16 points
• 6.0-6.9: 14 points
• 5.0-5.9: 12 points

OTHER MERITS (10 points maximum)
Merit-based scoring:
At the discretion of the Academic Committee of the program: up to 10 points.
Relevant professional experience (>2 years): 3 points
Indexed academic publications: 3 points
English level C1 or higher: 3 points
Demonstrable research experience: 1 point

GLOBAL COEFFICIENTS BY INCOME PROFILE:

Profile 1 (ADE + GAP + Master’s Program): 1.0
Profile 2 (Engineering and other UPV degrees + Master’s degree program): 0.98
Profile 3 (Other degrees + Master’s program + Agreements established with the PhD program): 0.95
Profile 4 (ADE+ GAP/Engineering + Other master’s degree related to the areas of the doctoral program): 0.90
Profile 5 (Other combinations): 0.75

APPLICATION CRITERIA:

Score calculation:
Calculate points in each category
Apply corresponding affinity coefficients
Add all categories
Multiply by income profile coefficient

Admission criteria:
Maximum possible score: 100 points
Minimum score for admission: 75 points
Candidates will be ranked by score for admission.
It will be considered, as a favorable characteristic, the fact of having won, in a competitive call, funding to do a full-time doctorate (FPI or FPU contracts).

Final formula:
Score = (Total points of the 4 categories) × Profile Coefficient

All applicants whose application is validated by the Doctoral School, who are endorsed by a tutor of the program and have submitted a research proposal with the support of their director, will be awarded a score of 75 points (the minimum for admission). In this way, the rubric will allow us to discern among the candidates, those who best fit the profiles established by Verifica.

Tie-breaking criteria:
First priority: Highest score in Master’s degree
Second priority: Highest score in Degree

Required documentation:

• Undergraduate transcript
• Master’s degree transcript
• For academic transcripts of non-Spanish degrees, it will be necessary to attach the corresponding “declaration of equivalence of average grade”, in accordance with the procedure of the Ministry of Universities ( https://universidades.sede.gob.es/pagina/index/directorio/Equivalencia_notas_medias/language/es_ES ).

• Curriculum vitae with supporting documents
• Supporting documentation of merits

Remarks:

• All grades must be presented on a 0-10 scale
• The merits must be duly accredited
• The coefficients are cumulative where applicable.
• The evaluation committee may request clarifications and may ask to meet with the applicants, especially to resolve ties.

Admission of part-time students:

The procedure will be the same, but a personal interview will be conducted in order to establish and take into account their time constraints.

Admission of students with disabilities:

The procedure is the same as in the general case, but a personal interview will be conducted in order to evaluate the specific educational needs that the disability generates and, if possible, to implement them in the case of admission to the Doctoral Program.

Procedure:

The applicant pre-registers for a PhD program through the Internet, indicating his or her personal data and the studies he or she has completed.
