Specific requirements and criteria for admission to the program

Recommended entry profile

Students in this doctoral program must have advanced knowledge of Statistics and/or Operations Research and Optimization. To this end, it is considered advisable that they have completed a degree, bachelor’s degree or engineering degree with a high content in these subjects, such as a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or related subjects, and in addition to the above criteria on degrees and bachelor’s degrees of origin, it is considered appropriate that the student has completed a master’s degree with a high content in these subjects.

As examples of suitable content we refer to the following master’s degrees:

  • Master’s Degree in Planning and Management of Business Processes from the University of Valencia.
  • Master’s Degree in Data Analysis Engineering, Process Improvement and Decision Making by the Universitat Politècnica de València.
  • Master’s Degree in Biostatistics from the University of Valencia.
  • Interuniversity Master’s Degree in Quality Management (Specialization in Production) by the Universitat de València and the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón.

In addition, it is recommended to have knowledge of English at a level equivalent to B1.

The body responsible for the admission of students will be the Joint Academic Committee of the Program, composed of members of the two participating universities as regulated in the collaboration agreement signed between them.

Specific Requirements

To have previously passed any of the four masters of the program in its training phase.

Proof of the completion of a research work of at least 6 credits in subjects related to those of the associated master’s degree.

The Joint Academic Committee will analyze the applications of those students who wish to access the doctorate from other official master’s degrees of a related nature or from degrees obtained under educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area, without the need for homologation, after verifying that the degree accredits a level of training equivalent to the corresponding Spanish degrees and that it qualifies in the issuing country for access to doctoral studies.

Students who hold the Diploma of Advanced Studies, obtained in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 778/1998 of April 30, 1998, or who have achieved the research sufficiency regulated by Royal Decree 185/1985 of January 23, 1985, in doctoral programs in the field of Statistics and Operations Research, will have direct access upon application for admission and justification of the suitability of the profile requested.
