11th Meeting for Doctoral Students

On May 21, the 11th Doctoral Student meeting was held, with 272 registered attendees, and the direct participation of 75 doctoral students, 60 of whom presented posters, and 15 of whom participated in the “Present Your Thesis in 3 Minutes” contest (Pitch Challenge).

We are pleased to have the participation of Sara Mariner, TEDx speaker, educator, and high-performance team coach, who gave the talk: “Your Ph.D. Is Just the Beginning: Create Your Own Path.”

The roundtable discussion that followed the conference also featured Elena de la Poza, Vice Rector for Employment, Continuing Education, and Languages; Raimon Calabuig Moreno, a UPV Ph.D. graduate and assistant professor; María Rocío Del Amor Del Amor, a UPV Ph.D. graduate and entrepreneur; and, as moderator, Belén Picó Sirvent, Vice Rector for Research and University Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at UPV.

Following the roundtable discussion, three lectures of great interest to doctoral students were held:

  • “A Career in Research,” by Piotr Adam Andruczyk, Research Specialist
  • “Science Matters, Let’s Talk Science!” by Luis Zurano Conches, Communications Specialist
  • “Initiatives to Promote Entrepreneurship at the UPV,” by Daniel Martínez Aceves, Specialist in the Entrepreneurship Division and the IDEAS Program at

We would like to extend our special thanks to the following chairs for their participation in the event: the MERCADONA IT Business Chair, the Economic Model Transformation Chair, and the UPV-Facsa Chair- Fovasa, the Chair in Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection, and the UNESCO Forum Chair on University and Cultural Heritage, as well as their respective directors for their collaboration as judges in selecting the best posters and the best oral presentation.
