Frequently Asked Questions

I’m having trouble downloading from the Autodesk website. How can I get their software?

As an ETSA student, when you’re ready to install Autodesk software—and to avoid errors or reduce download times—please note that a network resource is available with the various versions, including Revit, AutoCAD, and 3DS Max.

You can copy all of this software directly from the UPVNET Wi-Fi to your PC or to a USB flash drive from any computer in the computer labs, or even access it conveniently remotely via VPN.

The network resource is \\efe.aarq.upv.es\windows\Autodesk

How do I get my license for Autodesk software?

Autodesk provides a 1-year educational license to anyone who can verify their enrollment at the UPV. This is a process that interested individuals must complete directly with Autodesk, providing documentation proving that they are a member of the university community (copy of their UPV ID card, proof of enrollment, etc.).

This process is completed individually on the Autodesk website by creating a personal user profile. For more information, visit www.autodesk.com/education/edu-software/overview (in English).

I don’t have a Windows 10 license. How do I get one?

As a currently enrolled student at the UPV, you have access to one Windows 10 product key, among other Microsoft programs. You can find your serial number in the software list at Azure Dev Tools (Initial authentication via SMS to your cell phone is required.)

If you need to create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) to install Windows 10, go to www.microsoft.com/es-es/software-download/windows10

My antivirus has expired (or I don’t have one), and malware is getting onto my computer

As a UPV student, you have access to Kaspersky licenses. Uninstall any antivirus software you currently have installed and follow the instructions you’ll find by logging in with your username at software.upv.es and selecting the appropriate category.

Which computer should I buy?

A good reference is the system requirements provided by Autodesk; take a look at those for the latest version of AutoCAD or 3ds Max at knowledge.autodesk.com/es/support/system-requirements

If you plan to use Lumion, you can find the system requirements at www.lumion.es/requisitos

My computer is running slowly. What should I do?

Back up your data and try resetting your PC (Settings > Update & Security > Recovery).

If you want to reinstall Windows from scratch, here’s more information: www.microsoft.com/es-es/software-download/windows10

To significantly improve performance, if your PC doesn’t have an SSD, you can go to any computer store to have your old magnetic hard drive replaced with a solid-state drive.

I have a Mac and would like to install Windows 10. How do I do that?

If your Mac is compatible, you can do this using the Boot Camp Assistant. Here’s more information: support.apple.com/es-es/HT201468

Please note that you’ll need to prepare the following in advance:

  • The serial number of the Windows 10 license to be installed on the Mac.
  • 1 USB flash drive containing the Windows 10 installation media.
  • 1 additional USB flash drive, which the Boot Camp Assistant will ask you to provide and which will store the drivers specific to your Mac.
