“El dret a la fragilitat: una aproximació entre el cos i l’espai.”

Aula Magna ETSA UPV.

Divendres, 15 de setembre, 10:30h.

We can say that, if humanity has a project, it is a project of escape. What are we humans escaping from? From the fragility of our things, which reside in space. Our things, like the space in which they move, are analogical, in such a way that thinking about the relationship between space and things – central to architecture – implies thinking about the irregularity, the approximation, the roughness of a planet that from the air is a smooth sphere. As we cannot directly control time, the source of our mortality, we try to overcome it by force of speed: vertical speed, like that of the great crane, and technological speed, like that which has finally replaced all things by images trapped – or liberated, depending on how you look at it – in vertiginous screens that do not occupy any space. We have erased all the trappings of our fragility, from which, however, as the recent COVID pandemic shows, we can only escape provisionally and illusorily.
