Note:
a) To be eligible for the Master’s Degree in Architecture, applicants must hold a Spanish Bachelor’s Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture.
b) Specialised Master’s degrees (muDAI, muHab, muP+U, muCPA): 60 ECTS + 30 ECTS

ARCHITECTS OF THE FIRST SCHOOL. Legacies from the CTAV Archive and teaching at the ETSA in Valencia

This exhibition brings together six bequests from prominent Valencian architects who combined a busy professional career with a long teaching career at the Higher Technical School of Architecture in Valencia. They played a leading role in shaping contemporary Valencian architecture and, at the same time, were responsible for training the first generations of architects to graduate from the ETSA in Valencia.
Throughout its history, the Valencia Regional Association of Architects (CTAV) has safeguarded a fundamental part of this documentary heritage by preserving plans, drawings, photographs and other graphic documents that now form part of the CTAV Archive. To mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the ETSA in Valencia, this exhibition presents a selection from these collections with the aim of bringing them to the attention of the university community and highlighting their value as a resource for research, teaching and the study of architecture.
The exhibition also symbolises the collaboration between two institutions closely linked to the career path of any architect. The ETSA in Valencia represents a space for training, reflection and academic research, whilst the CTAV constitutes the sphere of professional practice, where the knowledge acquired is put to the test and continues to develop, thereby also becoming a space for research and experimentation. Far from being understood as separate realities, these two dimensions form part of the same process of learning and constructing architectural knowledge.
Curated by Javier Cortina, the exhibition is complemented by material on loan from the ETSA in Valencia and by texts by José María Lozano, Ignacio Bosch and Carmen Jordá, whose contributions offer different perspectives on the relationship between teaching, professional practice and the documentary legacy of the architects who helped to define the identity of the ETSA in Valencia.
