Access requirements
Admission to the Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Máster Universitario en Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos), being a professional qualifying degree, must also comply with the provisions established in Order CIN/309/2009, dated February 9, which sets the requirements for the verification of official university degrees enabling the practice of the profession of Ingeniero de Caminos, Canales y Puertos. Specifically, the admission conditions for the master’s program are outlined in section 4.2 of the annex of the aforementioned Order CIN:
- (4.2.1) Access to the Master’s program enabling the practice of the Ingeniero de Caminos, Canales y Puertos profession will be granted to those who have previously acquired the competencies specified in section 3 of the Ministerial Order establishing the requirements for verifying official university degrees enabling the practice of the Ingeniero Técnico de Obras Públicas, and whose education aligns with the specifications of section 5 of the same Ministerial Order.
- (4.2.2) Admission will also be allowed for candidates whose bachelor’s degree certifies completion of the basic training module and the common module for the branch, even if they have not completed a full block of the specific technology module but have completed at least 48 credits from the offered blocks within that module, provided the degree qualifies for the practice of Ingeniero Técnico de Obras Públicas, according to the aforementioned Ministerial Order.
- (4.2.3) Likewise, holders of any bachelor’s degree may access this Master’s program, provided that any necessary prior academic credits are established as prerequisites.
Consequently, any graduate from a qualifying degree for the regulated profession of Ingeniero Técnico de Obras Públicas verified under Order CIN/307/2009 may access the master’s program. The reference degree for admission to the master’s is the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de València.
When, as stipulated in case 4.2.3 of section 4.2 of the annex of Order CIN/309/2009, additional academic prerequisites are required, these shall always consist of courses belonging to the aforementioned reference degree. These prerequisites must ensure the acquisition of competencies as established in cases 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 of section 4.2 of the annex of Order CIN/309/2009.
The UPV offers the following academic program of successive pathways for practicing the regulated profession of Civil Engineer, as regulated by Ministerial Order CIN/309/2009, dated February 9: Academic Program of Successive Pathways in Civil Engineering (via Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering).
Admission to the Academic Program with Successive Pathways (hereinafter PARS) in Ingeniería de Caminos, Canales y Puertos (via Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering) for students entering the Universitat Politècnica de València from Civil Engineering bachelor’s degrees is conducted through a specific quota allocation during the pre-registration of each academic year (for high school graduates, vocational training, and other quotas). As indicated in RD822/2021 in its ninth additional provision, students who choose to enroll in the PARS may withdraw from it at any time during their Bachelor’s and Master’s studies.
Regarding admission to the Master’s, priority in enrollment will be guaranteed for students holding the official Bachelor’s Degree, regardless of whether they are enrolled in the PARS.
Academic Prerequisites or Admission without Prerequisites
Admission to the master’s with academic prerequisites must comply with Article 18.5 of RD822/2021 and Article 24 of the “Regulations on Pre-registration and Admission to Master’s Studies at the Universitat Politècnica de València.” In particular, the ECTS credit load of the academic prerequisites shall not exceed 20% of the total credit load of the degree.
When, as stipulated in case 4.2.3 of section 4.2 of the annex of Order CIN/309/2009, academic prerequisites must be defined, these will be composed exclusively of courses from the aforementioned reference degree. These prerequisites must guarantee the acquisition of competencies as set forth in cases 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 of section 4.2 of the annex of Order CIN/309/2009.
The Academic Commission of the Degree, responsible for admissions to the master’s, shall individually assess each student’s need to complete academic prerequisites, in accordance with current regulations. Students who require them will be assigned prerequisites that, combined with the training acquired in their previous degree curriculum, ensure acquisition of the competencies established in cases 4.2.1 or 4.2.2 of section 4.2 of the annex of Order CIN/309/2009, which sets the requirements for verifying official university degrees enabling the practice of Ingeniero Técnico de Obras Públicas.
These academic prerequisites are established by the Academic Commission for each student according to their previous degree and will not be considered a prerequisite for admission or enrollment in the master’s, but may be taken simultaneously.
Students assigned with academic prerequisites must register for them during the same academic year they begin the master’s program. Under no circumstances may the master’s degree be awarded without first having successfully completed the academic prerequisites.
Admission for disabled students
For students with specific educational needs arising from a disability, appropriate support and counseling services will be established to assess the needs of curricular adaptations, itineraries or alternative studies, through the support of the CEDAT Foundation of the UPV.
The CEDAT Foundation of the UPV offers information and advice to members of the university community with disabilities, as well as accompaniment and support in the classroom. In addition, it provides technical aids for study to those members of the student body who, due to their special educational needs, require it. It also promotes and manages training and employment actions for this group, both inside and outside the UPV campuses, and offers different services from its Special Employment Center.
The foundation also carries out projects for the elimination of architectural and urban barriers, comprehensive accessibility plans, accessibility audits, project reviews, advice and design of ideal accessibility models.

Evaluation of Academic Record.
For academic records graded on scales different from those indicated in RD1125/2003, applicants will be required to submit a certificate of equivalence for their university grade averages obtained from the competent Ministry related to Universities. Applicants who do not provide this document will be assigned a grade average of 5 for admission purposes.
In accordance with the weighting range established for this criterion in the UPV Master’s Pre-registration and Admission Regulations, this criterion will have a weighting of 50%.

Correspondence between the Competencies of the Access Degree and Those of the Reference Bachelor’s Degree
In accordance with the weighting range established for this criterion in the UPV Master’s Pre-registration and Admission Regulations, this criterion will have a weighting of 40%.

CurrIculum Vitae
In accordance with the weighting range established for this criterion in the UPV Master’s Pre-registration and Admission Regulations, this criterion will have a weighting of 10%.
Applicants will be admitted according to the number of available places, strictly in order of merit. In the event of withdrawals, and provided that there are applicants on the waiting list, vacancies will be filled until the quota of places is complete or the waiting list is exhausted, following the previously established order of merit.
Scholarships
Studies leading to an official university degree allow access to scholarships and grants. The Ministry of Education, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Universitat Politècnica de València itself offer various scholarships and grants.

General scholarships for students pursuing post-compulsory studies valid throughout the national territory. The scholarship will consist of exemption from payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), corresponding to subjects enrolled for the first time. Other fixed and variable amounts may also be obtained, if the requirements established for this purpose are met.

For the awarding of the scholarship it is necessary to prove administrative residence in the Valencian Community and not to exceed the income thresholds established by the call, as well as to comply with the general and academic requirements. The scholarship consists of the exemption from the payment of fees for the provision of university academic services (tuition fees), for subjects enrolled in first and second enrollment.
The Universitat Politècnica de València offers various scholarships or grants such as social action grants, canteen grants or collaboration training grants. There are also grants for sportsmen and women.

Access to pre-registration
Pre-registration for the Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering at the UPV requires applicants to validate themselves properly. UPV students must access with their ID and PIN. UPV staff will use their ID and UPVnet PIN. Those coming from other universities must previously request a password and PIN in order to pre-register.
