Collaboration agreement between the City Council of Valencia and the Universitat Politècnica de València for the Climate Mission.

The City Council of Valencia and the Universitat Politècnica de València signed on January 10, 2022, the declaration of intent UPV-Ciutat “València Ciutat Climàticament Neutra en 2030, where they showed their mutual commitment to work together for the Climate Mission. In this declaration, they expressed their commitment to articulate the University-City collaboration binomial, the details of which are reflected in the agreement signed on March 2, 2023.

The purpose of the Binomial is to establish a space for dialogue and collaboration between the university and the city in order to provide fundamental elements to advance toward climate neutrality based on eight strategic lines:

  • L1: Developing a way of working together that is innovative, fluid, open to listening, resilient, and adaptable to change, political and contextual.
  • L2: Sharing strategic insights for coherent alignment of policies, projects, regulations, calls for proposals, teaching content, lines of research, partnerships, etc., with the purpose of contributing to the Climate Mission.
  • L3: Generate and share valuable knowledge to contribute to the Climate Mission through open science and the generation of open, accessible, interoperable and interoperable data and reusable (FAIR data).
  • L4: Develop projects with the transformational capacity to contribute to the Mission Climatic, both in terms of research and innovation.
  • L5: Offering spaces for experimentation and controlled test benches (sandbox) to generate knowledge that can be replicable in the city’s neighborhoods. Convert the UPV Campus into a Living Climatic Lab where solutions can be tested.
  • L6: Working with strategic alliances and collaborations to act as a lever for maximizing and accelerating transformations necessary to achieve the climatic mission.
  • L7: Articulate broad forums for dialogue and reflection to build the transformation processes in alliance with citizens, the private sector, the private sector, the research, and public administration.
  • L8: Communicate the social value of urban transformation processes in alliance with citizens and, specifically, with the university community.

Likewise, the agreement defines a series of instruments (open and non-exclusive list) to develop these lines: Annual call for a strategic research project, call for social innovation projects, spontaneous generation projects, proven projects, Living Lab, Ciutat Lab, preparation of TFG, TFM, thesis, and internships, updating of teaching content, action learning initiatives, spaces for dialogue and reflection…
