XXXIII Crue-Sustainability Conference

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has hosted the XXXIII Jornadas Crue-Sostenibilidad (web). This meeting served to deepen the policies, practices and processes in favour of climate neutrality in universities and cities.

In this forum, entitled “University and City towards Climate Neutrality“, experts and researchers from the UPV and other Spanish universities have analysed the role of university innovation in decarbonising cities.

Throughout the presentations, round tables and parallel working sessions, aspects such as the appropriate governance model to develop environmental issues or the benefits of the binomial universities-municipalities as a driver of change, among others, have been addressed.

In this way, the participants outlined the main actions that universities are currently carrying out in implementing sustainability in all their activities, as well as the related research projects they are carrying out. Likewise, the reflection has revolved around new proposals and strategies to accelerate the ecological transition of cities and their commitment to the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda.

Compensation certificate

The UPV hosted this meeting for the first time, which brought together more than 200 people from 76 Spanish universities grouped by Crue.

The XXXIII Crue-Sustainability Conference has obtained the certificate of carbon neutral event by compensation issued by the Lurgaia Fundazioa Foundation. This endorsement means that, after the celebration of the meeting, the necessary amount of native trees and bushes will be planted to compensate for the CO2 emissions generated due to its organisation. This action will be carried out in the forest of Undabaso, in the Biosphere Reserve of Urdaibai (Biscay).
