The Aula de Artes Escénicas UPV at the Biennal de Teatre Universitari

The Universitat Politècnica de València participated in the 4th edition of the Biennal de Teatre Universitari de la Xarxa Vives with the scenic proposalWith a strange looka play written and directed by Marc Brell i López and performed by the Aula de Artes Escénicas de la UPV. The competition was held on May 6 and 7, 2026 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and brought together a total of ten university theater classrooms.

La Biennal de Teatre Universitari de la Xarxa Vives is an inter-university and itinerant showcase open to the public that takes place in the format of a theater marathon. Each participating university presented a play up to 50 minutes long, allowing the public to enjoy a diverse and continuous program during the same day.

In addition to the performances, the Biennial offered a space for coexistence and exchange among university theater groups, with training activities, workshops and courses organized within the framework of the cultural event.

The UPV proposal,With a strange lookaddressed the construction of identity and the violence exercised on dissident bodies. The play presented the story of Ella, a person who lives trapped in the perception of inhabiting “a strange body”, conditioned by the hostile gaze, harassment and social humiliation. The piece reflects on the pressure to fit into the normative canons and on the emotional and physical consequences of discrimination.
