Traces of a Shadow: Wandering Through Spanish Cinema
So close and yet so far, as unknown as it is questioned, Spanish cinema has been subject to the ebb and flow of judgments that have, on more than a few occasions, been determined by criteria far removed from its potential formal merits. Traces of a Shadow: Wandering Through Spanish Cinema does not aim to offer a definitive map of cinema made in Spain, but rather to embark on a brief journey, to present a small, random, and personal sampling that, drawing on some of the films that are defining its contemporary landscape, traces the flow of history back to some of its earliest sources.
