Since its creation in 2014, Spontaneous Generation has promoted an active learning model based on the self-management of student teams and collaboration between disciplines. In these ten years, more than 15,000 students have participated in projects that combine engineering, art, science, architecture, design and communication, generating an innovation ecosystem that transcends the classroom. Many of the teams have competed internationally and some have achieved entrepreneurial achievements such as the creation of deeptech companies likeZeleros or have become technological platforms that continue their activity outside the university. Within the framework of this program, unprecedented achievements have been made to date among Spanish universities, such as the followingawards obtained iniGEM (2018), Solar Decathlon (2022), European Rocketry Challenge (2023 and 2025), European Hyperloop Week (2022 and 2024), Formula Student Michigan (2025)..
The exhibition proposes a journey through this decade of collective work through three differentiated areas that allow to recognize the past, experience the present and anticipate the future. It articulates an institutional and pedagogical narrative that evidences the evolution of a creative community towards a sustainable system of innovation and learning. “From germ to system” traces the milestones and key moments of the program. “Learning by doing” brings together materials, images and objects from the teams – including a time capsule – that reflect the culture of doing and the shared memory. “Futures under construction” looks ahead with the presentation of the new GE building.
The exhibition is a visual essay on the university as a living space of innovation and learning, in permanent construction, where knowledge emerges through the interaction between knowledge, practices and diverse communities;
Curated byÀngela Montesinos Lapuentethe exhibition is part of the actions of the Strategic Plan UPV_SIRVE, promoted by theVice Rectors’ Offices of Planning, Studies, Quality and Accreditation; Art, Science, Technology and Society,andVice Rectorate for Students and Entrepreneurshipresponsible for the Spontaneous Generation program, which promotes leadership, entrepreneurship and interdisciplinarity in the university community.
