Horta Sud. Water and territory

From June 18 to July 18, 2025

West Hall ETS Architecture

The exhibition HUERTA SUR. Water and Territory was born with the academic perspective of collaborating with the neighbors of l’Horta Sur in the process of recovering their place, understood as a physical space and affective and emotional relationships.

With the immediacy required by the emergency, from the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, we have compiled the information available and within our reach with the aim of supporting a reflection from the territory but taking into account the idiosyncrasy of its inhabitants and putting people at the center.

The exhibition offers an approach to the mitg and the human collective of the region of l’Horta Sur, addressing the impacts of the 2024 DANA phenomenon from the urban, landscape, architectural and social perspective. It also presents some reflections on possible ways of ecosocial regeneration of the affected spaces, focusing on the environmental matrix and the blue infrastructure.

The character of this exhibition is proposed itinerant as an option of availability to promote attention to the recovery of the territories of l’Horta Sur opening the space for reflection from various empla9aments and perspectives.

The exhibition has a serious cartography that shows the historical evolution of l’Horta Sur, formed by a selection of cartographies that belong to the exhibition Valencia: City and Orchard, along with others that help to understand the impacts of this phenomenon in the territory. In addition, a photographic archive is exhibited documenting the region before the phenomenon and the effects it has caused in the environment and local communities. It also presents project and strategic references on blue infrastructure, risk management and other issues related to the water dimension of the territory.

This exhibition aims to contribute to the technical and social debate on the regeneration of the regions affected by the phenomenon of the DANA, with the objective of promoting more sustainable and resilient territories.
