We resume the cycle “Mundos por Venir” with a meeting with Judith Butler. The philosopher, who will connect online from the United States, will dialogue with Emma Ingala Gómez (Complutense University of Madrid), about her new book.
The aim of the article is not to offer a new theory of gender, but to examine how “gender” has become a ghost for the emerging authoritarian regimes, the feixist formations and the transgender feminists.
Butler illuminates the concrete ways in which this specter of “gender” repletes and displaces anxieties and fears of destruction. Operating in tandem with the misleading narratives of “race-critical theory” and the xenophobic panic on migration, the anti-gender movement demonizes struggles for equality, fuels aggressive nationalism, and leaves millions vulnerable to subjugation.
The meeting will take place on Thursday 27th September at 6 pm at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UPV. Free access until full capacity is reached.
The meetings of the MONS PER VENIR program are organized by the Cultural Action Area of the Vice-Rectorate of Art, Science, Technology and Society of the UPV, with the design and coordination of Miguel Ángel Baixauli.
