There are various options for funding a predoctoral visit and the most common are:

  1. STUDENTS WITH PRE-DOCTORAL AIDS FROM THE MINISTRIES AND THE GVA

    These grants usually include a package to finance research stays, called and managed by the corresponding entity. Consult the bases of each call to know the details.

    1. FPU mobility grants from the Ministry of Education and Sport
    2. FPI mobility grants from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness
    3. Mobility grants from VALi+d (Valencian regional government)

  2. STUDENTS WITH PRE-DOCTORAL CONTRACT FPI-UPV OR DEVELOPING THESIS IN THE REGIME OF COTUTELA

    Annually the Vice-Rectorate of Research, Innovation, and Transfer announce the mobility grants from the FPI-UPV students and for the students developing their thesis in Cotutela (http://www.upv.es/entidades/VIIT/info/900578normali.html)

  3. ALL STUDENTS

    • Erasmus + grants

      (are managed by Doctoral School and the International Exchange Programmes Office.).

      Grants provided by the Erasmus+ programme are funded by the European Union.These grants can cover up to 12 months of the total period of doctoral studies – and can be used on one or several visits.

      Under European Union regulations, Erasmus+ grants are compatible with other grants that are not from the same source.

      There are two types of mobility grants in the Erasmus+ programme:

      • Erasmus + Study

        A student does part of his or her studies in another university, and these studies are recognised by both universities. For doctoral students, this period is known as a research visit.

        • Erasmus requires agreement between the two universities for the exchange of doctoral students.
        • Funding will depend on the European region of destination (€200-250-300).
        • Between three and seven months of an academic course can be funded.
        • Destinations: EU universities with Erasmus Charter.
        • Managed by the Doctoral School and the International Exchange Programmes Office (http://www.upv.es/entidades/OPII/infoweb/pi/info/803354normali.html).
        • Applications usually made in January and June.

      • Erasmus + internships

        A student visits a public or private organisation in the EU as an intern. In the case of doctoral students, this is a research visit.

        • An Erasmus+ contract is required for the intern.
        • Funding depends on the European region of destination (+ €100 more than Erasmus+study)
        • Between two and three months are funded per academic year.
        • Destination: organisations in the European Union.
        • Managed by the UPV International Exchange Programmes Office (http://www.upv.es/entidades/OPII/infoweb/pi/info/803464normali.html).
        • Applications can be made throughout the academic year.

    • Becas Iberoamérica. Santander Investigación
      • Minimum duration: 4 months
      • Amount: 5.000 €
      • Destination: Iberoamerican research centers/universities
