The UPV is once again participating in European Mobility Week, an initiative that promotes more sustainable, healthy, safe, accessible, and inclusive modes of transportation. To wrap up the week, Today, September 22, we’re celebrating Car-Free Day, an event that invites us to reflect on how we get around every day and on the impact of our transportation choices.
Facilitating sustainable access to campuses is one of the areas of focus of the UPV Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility. This plan promotes measures to encourage the use of public transportation, cycling, carpooling, and electric vehicles.
Notable among the initiatives implemented are the improvement of public transportation connections to the Vera Campus, the expansion of bicycle parking facilities and bicycle repair stations, and the promotion of Policar UPV for carpooling among members of the university community and the recent expansion of the electric vehicle charging service.
In observance of Car-Free Day, this morning staff from the Environment Unit will be present at the campus entrances to share this day with students, support staff, and faculty, and to thank those who have chosen more sustainable modes of transportation to get to the university.
Because every trip counts. Small changes in our daily habits can help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and move us toward healthier, more livable campuses for the entire university community.
Did you come here today on foot, by bike, by public transportation, by carpool, or using a personal mobility device? Come say hello. We have a small gift ready to celebrate this day together.
