The UPV is activating all of its electric vehicle charging stations

To coincide with European Mobility Week, the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) has launched all of its new electric vehicle charging stations installed on its campuses are now operational, significantly expanding the infrastructure available to the university community. This initiative is part of the institution’s strategy to promote more sustainable mobility, reduce transportation-related emissions, and facilitate the transition to low-emission mobility models.

The new infrastructure was made possible by grants aimed at promoting charging stations for electric vehicles in the Valencian Community. The project includes European Union funding through the NextGenerationEU program, as part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, thereby helping to accelerate the energy transition in the university sector.

With the launch of these new chargers, The UPV has achieved full compliance with current regulations regarding the minimum number of charging stations required in university parking lots, meeting the requirements established for this type of facility and reinforcing its role as an institution committed to sustainability and innovation.

The The service’s growth also confirms the university community’s growing interest in electric mobility. Since the first charging stations were launched in 2024, the number of users, charging sessions, and energy supplied have all seen steady growth, reflecting the gradual adoption of electric vehicles for daily commutes to the UPV campuses.

The expansion of this infrastructure allows us to continue moving toward cleaner, more efficient, and more accessible transportation for students, PTGAS, and PDI, while also helping to reduce emissions and achieve the university’s sustainability goals.
