Material Transfer Agreements

Material Transfer agreements regulate the transfer of material owned by one entity to another, for exclusive use in research, without financial compensation or automatic attribution of rights to the results.

What should a Material Transfer Agreement contain?

It must include a description of the material to be transferred and the research work to be carried out with that material, the agreement will establish conditions regarding the restricted use and confidentiality of the material and information exchanged between the parties, the way in which the material will be transferred indicating quantities, location and deadlines, the possibility of publication of the work, the obligation to indicate the origin of the material used and the possibility of shared ownership of the results in some cases.
