Research internship at the National Institute of Informatics, Tokyo

The National Institute of Informatics of Tokyo(NII) offers every year to students of the UPV the option to send doctoral or master’s students to Tokyo to do an internship collaborating with their laboratories and research teams.

The NII is a prestigious center with a great international projection, which receives each year more than 100 students for these stays, coming from  130 top-tier universities worldwideincluding the UPV.

The NII publishes two selection calls per year, in autumn (for a stay beginning in spring-summer) and in spring (for a stay beginning in autumn).

The UPV, as a collaborating entity, can send 2-3 applications from master’s or doctoral students in each edition. Once the applications have been received, the NII itself and the research groups will select the candidates from among all the proposals submitted by all the universities with which the NII has signed collaboration agreements.

Due to the profile of the internships, they are mainly aimed at students of the ETSINF, ETSIT or the masters of the DSIC or DISCA departments, or students enrolled in the PhD Program in Computer Science or Telecommunications.

These stays are not specifically designed for TFM.

The approach is rather that of an extracurricular internship or voluntary research stay, for personal experience and curriculum.

Research and work topics are already set and cannot be adapted. Students must collaborate in teams and areas of work that are already in place.

Participants in these internships are integrated into a very international environment and interact and collaborate with world-class researchers and students.

Deadline to send applications: April 10, 2025(The official NII website indicates April 17, but OPII is bringing forward the deadline for receipt of applications, in order to review, filter and, if necessary, classify the applications received.
