In today’s society, where mathematics is permanently present, it is especially important to generate a mathematical culture. However, the cultural and recreational aspect of this science is not sufficiently cultivated and makes non-specialists unaware of its beauty or the benefits it can bring to our life in society.
JUEGOS AL CUADRADO promotes mathematical culture through games and encourages technological vocations STEAM through the approach to Mathematics. We emphasize the importance of promoting interest among girls and women. All this presented in a playful environment, in which the public can discover mathematics, play with it and appreciate its beauty.
We want to interpret concepts and demystify this science, through an attractive presentation and with a minimum technical apparatus. This project involves the development of manipulative games to carry out a mathematical classroom-workshop. In the first stage of the classroom-workshop, different games are elaborated with the aim of developing logical-mathematical thinking, reflection, critical spirit and ingenuity. They are fun games with simple instructions, easy to elaborate and that allow repeated manipulation. The second stage consists of setting up a classroom-workshop with these materials, which will be used by students of different levels.
