The Cycle Movie Thursday kicks off its 2026–2027 season with Traces of a Shadow: Wandering Through Spanish Cinema, a program that invites viewers to explore the evolution of Spanish cinema through a selection of seminal works, ranging from some of the films that have shaped its contemporary character to its earliest influences.
The screenings will take place on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. in the Rector’s Office Auditorium (Building 3A). Admission is free until capacity is reached, and all screenings will be shown in their original language with Spanish subtitles.
The series will begin on October 15, 2026 with a screening of Summer 1993 (Carla Simón, 2017) and will continue with a lineup that includes titles such as The Smallest Island, Cell 211, The Spirit of the Hive, Viridiana or Life in the Shadows, among others. Through this reverse chronological journey, the exhibition offers an open and personal exploration of some of the most representative films and filmmakers in the history of Spanish cinema.
This event is organized in collaboration with the French Institute of Valencia and is coordinated by Javier Moral Martín and Paula Cardells Mosteiro.
With this new edition of Movie Thursday, the UPV’s Cultural Action Department continues to promote opportunities for reflection and film appreciation that introduce the university community to some of the most significant works of Spain’s audiovisual heritage.
