A1 Valencian language course for newcomers or people with no Valencian language skills

The course’s aim is to help students understand and use everyday familiar expressions and basic phrases in order to communicate in Valencian

 

The Vice-Rectorate for Organization of Studies, Quality, Accreditation and Languages, through the UPV's Office of Language Planning, offers the A1 Valencian language course for newcomers or people with no Valencian language skills. The course’s aim is to help students understand and use everyday familiar expressions and basic phrases in order to communicate in Catalan/Valencian.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The general objective is to get started in the knowledge and use of Valencian.

At the end of the course, students will be able to understand and use everyday familiar expressions and very basic phrases allowing them to communicate about the fundamental needs of daily life in Valencian. They will be able to introduce themselves and others; to ask and answer questions about personal details, such as country of origin, acquaintances, and possessions; and to engage in simple interactions, provided that the other person speaks slowly and clearly, and is willing to help.

AIMED AT:UPV students and staff with no previous knowledge of Valencian. Members of Alumni PLUS and AAA UPV will be admitted.

COURSE TITLE:A1 Valencian language course (for newcomers)

SCHEDULE:Monday and Wednesday, 3 to 5 p.m., from February 21 to May 23, 2022

MODE:face-to-face

GENERAL COURSE PROGRAM: A1 VALENCIAN (FOR NEWCOMERS)

The course consists of the following five basic units: 1. INTRODUCING YOURSELF (introducing yourself, the alphabet, the present tense of the verbsviure, ser, tindre, numerals...), 2. DESCRIBING PEOPLE (the human body, clothes and accessories, grammatical articles, colours, gender), 3. MY FAMILY (family relationships, ordinals, possessive determiners, some animals), 4. WHAT DO YOU DO DURING THE DAY? (the present indicative tense, the plural, the days of the week, the classroom), 5. FOOD AND DRINK (the time, parts of the day, food and drink, quantifiers(gens de /cap), the months of the year).
