New double degree at the UPV: Mathematics + Geomatics Engineering

The Governing Council of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) approved in the last session of 2022, held on December 22, several points that affect current and future students. The executive body gave the green light to the launch of two new double degrees that will be in operation from the 2023-24 academic year. These are, on the one hand, the double Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics + Degree in Geomatics Engineering and Surveying; and, on the other hand, the double Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering + Master’s Degree in Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection.

With regard to the double bachelor’s degree, which offers fifteen vacancies in the inaugural course, a time structure has been defined that allows the 360 ECTS credits to be taken over five academic years. It also joins the four existing double degrees related to mathematical sciences (Mathematics + Civil Engineering, Mathematics + Telecommunications Technology and Services Engineering, Mathematics + Business Administration and Mathematics + Computer Engineering).

According to Marival Segarra, vice-rector for the Organization of Studies, Quality, Accreditation and Languages, these are degrees with a “high demand” that seek the “optimization of training itineraries”. In total, 75 places will be offered in these 5 double degrees.

In addition, the Governing Council approved the itinerary leading to the double Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and in Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection, with 156 credits, taking advantage of the synergies existing between the two degrees. The students who enroll -a maximum of ten in the inaugural course- will be able to study both degrees over five semesters.
