The Rectorate building is covered in green and solar panels

The Rectorate building on the Vera campus will face an energy rehabilitation in the coming months thanks to the aid granted by the Programa de Impulso a la Rehabilitación de Edificios Públicos (PIREP). This plan of the Ministerio de Transportes, Movilidad y Agenda Urbana, whose regional call is managed by the Vicepresidència Segona i Conselleria d’Habitatge i Arquitectura Bioclimàtica de la Generalitat Valenciana, pursues the sustainable rehabilitation of publicly owned buildings, combining the integrated character that the EUA claims with the three essential achievements promoted by the New European Bauhaus (sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion) without losing sight of the main objective of an average energy saving of over 30%.

The financial aids, coming from the Plan de Recuperación, Transformación y Resiliencia, will allow updating the air conditioning system, replacing the lights with LEDs, waterproofing and insulating the roof, providing greater accessibility to the auditorium (installation of a new elevator), and introducing green roofs and a large pergola with photovoltaic panels.

Other similar grants have been requested to undertake more operations that improve the energy efficiency of the buildings of the Universitat Politècnica de València.
