Bootcamp: Valencia Semicon Startup Lab

Semiconductors, microelectronics, and photonics are the driving forces behind nearly all the technologies we use every day: from cell phones and smart vehicles to medical devices, artificial intelligence, communications networks, and the industry of the future.

Its importance continues to grow, and with it, the demand for professionals capable of turning technological challenges into innovative solutions. Europe is strongly promoting this sector, and the Valencian Community is establishing itself as one of its main hubs for development.

With this goal in mind, it was founded València Semicon Startup Lab, a program sponsored by Valencia Innovation Capital e IDEAS UPV to discover, develop, and connect the talent at the Polytechnic University of Valencia with one of the sectors with the brightest future prospects.

Much More Than Just a Boot Camp

Semicon Launchpad Valencia kicks off with a Challenges and Innovation Bootcamp, an intensive program in which you will work on real-world challenges facing cities and industry, using semiconductors, microelectronics, and photonics as enabling technologies to create innovative solutions.

We’re not just looking for technical profiles. Innovation requires teams capable of combining engineering expertise with business acumen, design, communication, user experience, and many other disciplines.

For this reason, the program is open to current students and recent graduates with bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the UPV in any academic field.

You can sign up individually or do it with your own team. If you’re coming on your own, during the Bootcamp we’ll help you form a multidisciplinary team with other participants so you can develop your proposal together.

What will you do during the Bootcamp?

Over the course of four intensive sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Work on real-world challenges posed by València Innovation Capital.
  • To understand the potential of semiconductors, microelectronics, and photonics for solving problems in cities and industry.
  • Learn methodologies for innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Collaborate with students from different disciplines.
  • It involves support from experts and mentors.
  • Design and present an innovative solution to a panel of judges.

Upon completing the Bootcamp, the four teams with the greatest potential will have access to a acceleration program, where they will continue to develop their project through specialized mentoring, market validation, and connections with companies and stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.

What kinds of challenges will you tackle?

The challenges will relate to strategic areas for the future of our cities and our industry, and they will all have one thing in common: exploring how semiconductors, microelectronics, and photonics can become part of the solution.

What will you bring?

Beyond technical knowledge, you’ll have an experience very similar to launching a tech startup: you’ll learn to work in multidisciplinary teams, validate ideas, present solutions, and collaborate with professionals in the innovation ecosystem.

In addition:

  • Participants who complete the Bootcamp will receive a certificate of participation and may earn ECTS credits.
  • The teams selected for the accelerator program will also receive a specific certificate and ECTS credit recognition.
