Students Mateo Gil and Yohana Mansour, students at the Higher Technical School of Aerospace Engineering and Industrial Design (ETSIADI), have received the first prize and runner-up prize in the Debut Work category of the “Self-Produced Design” awards, presented by the Valencia Regional College of Architects in its 11th edition. These projects emerged from work carried out in the Models and Prototypes Workshop course and will be presented at the Feria Hábitat trade show at the Association’s booth from September 28 to October 2. The awards ceremony will take place next Wednesday, September 30, at the Trade Fair. The two models will also be on display the following week at the Valencian Community Crafts Center alongside the rest of the pieces selected for the exhibition, which is held annually to showcase students’ work.
Mateo’s project is the “Estia” lamp, which embodies the idea of an “altar” for the family unit: a lamp whose pieces fit together and balance each other, consisting of three separate modules that interlock so that the composition becomes
a tangible metaphor for coexistence and the uniqueness of each member. Her project was created in collaboration with Mónica Navarro Gómez-Ferrer’s workshop (Gamuza). As for Yohana’s project, “Velar,” it is a glass candleholder inspired by the protective gesture of an embrace. Her project was developed in collaboration with Sara Sorribes’ workshop (Vidrio Sorribes). The School would like to congratulate both of them on their work.
