Opening Lecture: WORKSHOP 1

Elisabet Quintana and Federico Mesa (plan:b) kick off the 2026–2027 academic year for Workshop 1 at the ETSA UPV with two approaches to the site and the architectural project.

Elisabet Quintana, an architect, landscape architect, and professor in the Department of Urban Planning at the UPV, will present “Green Leaf,” the winning proposal in the competition for the transformation of Valencia’s Bulevar Sur, which has been the central focus of Workshop 1 this academic year.

Federico Mesa, an architect and co-founder of plan:b arquitectos in Medellín, will present his approach to understanding and developing projects through a practice that explores the relationships between architecture, climate, materials, natural systems, and ways of living.

This session introduces some of the topics that will be explored in Workshop 1 on southern Valencia and its connection to the huerta and the Albufera.

The lectures will be held on September 16 and 18 for the Spanish and Valencian language tracks.
