The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has been rated in the 2014 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) as the best polytechnic university in Spain. According to this ranking, considered the most prestigious in the world due to its objective methodology, the UPV is the only polytechnic university in our country that is amongst the top 400 universities in the world.
Following its remarkable upward trend over the last few years, the UPV is now, for the first time, amongst the 200 best universities in the world in Economics, Social Sciences and Engineering.
Amongst the best 75 universities in the world in Chemistry
It is all good news for the UPV when it comes to ranking per subject, as it features amongst the best 150 universities in the world in Mathematics and, for the first time, amongst the best 200 in Economics and Business Studies, a position it also holds, once again, in Computer Science.
The UPV's progress in Chemistry deserves special mention. In 2013 the UPV was rated in the top 75-100 in this field, whereas in the ranking published in August 2014 it was amongst the top 75 universities in the world.
For the ninth year in a row, the UPV is amongst the 400 leading universities
The ARWU, which is compiled by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) and was the first worldwide university ranking published (it was first published in 2003), places the UPV amongst the leading 500 top quality universities in the world for the tenth year in a row, and amongst the top 400 for the ninth year in a row.
The UPV, internationally recognized by all top-level rankings
For a further year, the ARWU has substantiated the UPV’s teaching quality, which is also acknowledged by the two other main rankings on international top-level universities: QS and THES. The QS World University Rankings, presented by the Quacquerelli Symonds consulting firm, ranked the UPV as 383th in the world in its latest issue (September 2013). And the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES), which compiles a world ranking assessing 13 indicators linked to teaching quality, internationality, innovation, usefulness for the business community, research quality and the university’s impact in scientific production, placed the UPV in a similar position worldwide in its latest issue (October 2013): 351-400.
