The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is a document promoted by the Council of Europe and drawn up by experts in the field of language teaching and learning, which aims to provide a common basis for courses, programmes, and qualifications.
The CEFR provides six common reference levels for describing communicative competence and facilitating its assessment. The European institutions engaged in language training follow these common levels, which are:
Level A1 (Threshold)
Level A2 (Basic)
Level B1 (Elementary)
Level B2 (Intermediate)
