In the Master’s Degree Program in Habitat Innovation (muHAB), Eva Álvarez course instructor Social Sustainability I, along with Carlos Gómez, a teacher of the same subject, have organized an activity with Caterina Figuerola e Ibon Bilbao, by LLINDAR ARCHITECTURE, titled Creating/Living. Strategies and Proposals for Social Housing. The conference will explore new ways of designing and managing public housing, with a special focus on the relationships between architecture, community, and daily life, as well as on collective processes of transforming the built environment. The conference will be followed by an interactive workshop to explore how potential strategies might be adapted to the cities familiar to the students.
This activity will be complemented by the Field trip to Barcelona on October 23, titled Living Differently, during which the students will visit New IMPSOL Public Housing Developments, the exhibition To Conceive/To Live accompanied by Xavier Gracias, a staff member at IMPSOL, and Caterina and Ibon, the exhibition curators and authors of the book of the same title, among other visitors.
Both activities are part of the master’s program’s educational initiatives focused on experiential learning and are aligned with the UPV SIRVE Strategic Plan, fostering connections between universities, professionals, and society, as well as providing firsthand insight into innovative practices in public housing, sustainability, and community life.
