A MEMIC student’s master’s thesis on the future of fishing in Valencia has won an award

Andrea Márquez Escamilla, a student in the 2019–2020 MEMIC class, has been awarded the prize for the best Master’s Thesis at the fourth annual CoAmbCV Awards, presented by the Professional Association of Environmental Sciences of the Valencian Community.

His work ” Sustainability of the Fishing Sector in the Valencian Community: The Challenge of Generational Transition” was selected by the jury as the best entry in this year’s competition, which included students from across the Valencian Community. His research drew on contributions from members of the region’s leading fishing guilds, whose insights helped round out the project by offering their perspectives on the lack of generational succession and other issues affecting the future of the fishing industry.
