Accessibility to UPV 2025

A study promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Sustainable Campus Development analyzes public transport in the metropolitan area of Valencia in relation to the university community. This initiative is part of its UPV Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility 2023-2027It is a working tool for the Mobility Subcommittee and the Interadministrative Roundtable on Sustainable Mobility.

Based on the data provided by the metropolitan transport companies and the distribution of the different sectors of the UPV population, maps have been drawn up showing the most efficient modes of transport and their frequencies, and the average travel times to the Vera campus, according to the municipality of residence.

According to this work, 53% of the university community of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) accesses the Vera campus by public transport in less than 30 minutes. On the opposite side, more than 4,200 people -approximately 15% of the university community- live more than 60 minutes by public transport from the Vera campus of the UPV, which pushes them to depend on private vehicles.

In addition, the municipalities in the metropolitan area of Valencia with the best accessibility to the Vera campus are Alboraya, Almàssera, Meliana, Albuixech and Mislata, whose residents can get there in less than 30 minutes using metro-tram or suburban trains. On the other hand, the towns with the longest travel times are Picassent, Chiva, Benifaió, Carlet and Buñol, from where the intercity bus ride exceeds 90 minutes.
