Participation of the UPV in the initiative DANA24_CTAV VOLUNTEER ARCHITECTS

The Territorial College of Architects of Valencia (CTAV), together with the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de la Comunidad Valenciana (COACV), develops several initiatives to respond to the current situation of the municipalities of Valencia. One of these projects consists of the HOUSING EMERGENCY MAPPING AND DATA COLLECTION and aims to identify, based on sufficient sampling, the effect of the DANA on buildings. The mapping initiative is based on visual data collection through a mapping form developed by technical experts in Emergency and Protection through a mobile application.

The UPV participates in this initiative through the collaboration of the research group of the UPV Department of Statistics coordinated by Jose Miguel Carot and integrated by Aida Villalba, Carlos Serrano, Iuliia Rytck Molodykh and Elena Vázquez. Its work focuses on optimizing data management and analysis to maximize the value of the information collected. First, a data collection strategy has been structured to ensure that information is captured consistently and completely from various sources, taking into account the complexity of the context of the situation generated by the effect of the floods and the organization of volunteer collaboration. In addition, the storage of this data has been organized efficiently, prioritizing a hardware and software architecture that facilitates access and processing of the information in a secure and scalable manner. Finally, the data analysis design has been oriented to obtain clear and practical information to support decision-making, making it possible to visualize critical patterns and anticipate needs in emergency situations. Through this comprehensive planning, we seek not only to interpret the data collected, but also to provide evidence-based recommendations to optimize resource management and response in this emergency situation and in future similar situations.

For the development of this initiative, software and hardware resources of the ASIC of the UPV are being used. In addition, there is a specific donation of the ArcGIS software license from ESRI Spain and another of Tableau products.
