Kickboxing is a combat sport that combines elements of traditional boxing and martial arts such as karate or muay thai.
From the age of 7
Sandra Gomar Sánchez started kickboxing at the age of 7 and currently trains three hours a week. She combines the sport with her studies in the second year of the degree and Aerospace Engineering. This victory, for her, is “very special, especially because it marks my start in the senior category. It is also a great motivation and an important step to be closer to the Spanish senior team and compete in the next world championship.
Organization and having clear priorities is the key to her success. “Studies always come first, but sports help me to disconnect and have the motivation I need to perform at my best in both facets,” she explains.
In addition to kickboxing, he likes rockets and everything related to space. The team of Spontaneous Generation, Faraday Rocketry, is what made him leave his hometown, Chiclana de la Frontera, to come to study at the UPV. He is currently part of the team which allows him to “participate directly in the development of a sounding rocket”.
On a sporting level, her goal is to be selected to participate in the World Championship to be held from November 21 to 30 in Abu Dhabi, “and if that happens, to win it,” she confesses her ambition.
