The exhibition, which will be open to the public through November 13 in the CRAI Multipurpose Room, invites visitors to reflect on global challenges and foster a commitment to sustainable development.
The Exhibition “Sustainable Development Goals: 17 Reasons to Take Action” invites us to reflect on global challenges and the actions needed to move toward a more sustainable, just, and prosperous world.
This exhibition, which will be on view at the Gandia campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) through November 13, offers a tour of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through posters created with the participation of students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, the dual degree in Environmental Sciences and Marine Sciences and Technologies, and the dual degree in Forestry and Natural Environment Engineering and Environmental Sciences, under the coordination of Professor Paloma Herrera.
Caring for the planet and ensuring people’s well-being is a shared responsibility. With this in mind, the exhibition highlights society’s involvement and its ability to contribute to a more sustainable, just, and prosperous future.
17 Goals to Transform the World
Adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, the SDGs are part of the 2030 Agenda, a global commitment that sets out 17 goals and 169 targets to advance sustainable development. Among its priorities are the eradication of poverty and hunger, gender equality, access to education, health care, water, and energy, environmental protection, and the fight against climate change.
The SDGs are interconnected and require the involvement of governments, institutions, businesses, and citizens. In this context, the exhibition hosted on the Gandia campus aims to bring the 2030 Agenda closer to the university community, foster a critical and engaged perspective on current challenges, and remind everyone that everyday actions can also contribute to achieving these 17 goals.
The initiative also highlights the role of higher education in raising awareness about sustainability and in training professionals capable of addressing environmental and social challenges from a global perspective.
The CRAI Gandia Campus Library is joining the initiative
To complement the exhibition, the CRAI Gandia Campus Library has put together a selection of items from its collection “Sustainable Development”, organized around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This selection offers the university community the opportunity to explore the various SDGs in greater depth, gain a better understanding of the challenges associated with sustainable development, and broaden their reflection on how to contribute to achieving them.
The materials in the collection can be viewed in the library catalog via the following link: Sustainable Development – Polytechnic University of Valencia.
The exhibition “Sustainable Development Goals: 17 Reasons to Take Action” will be open to the public through November 13 in the Multipurpose Room of the CRAI on the UPV’s Gandia campus.
