The International Animated Short Film Festival will take place from October 23 to 25. On Friday, October 23, there will be a special screening for students, featuring the film “Mariposas negras”.

With the sponsorship and collaboration of the Gandia campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the Gandia City Council, and the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC), a new edition of the Cortoons Festival is here—the international short film competition that promotes high-quality audiovisual animation.

As on previous occasions, the Aula Magna on the UPV university campus will host the presentation and a special screening of the festival intended for students, with free admission.

The session will take place on Friday, October 23, starting at 10:00 a.m., and will include a screening of the feature film Mariposas negras, winner of the 2025 Goya Award for Best Animated Film. Directed by David Baute, the film tells the story of three women from different parts of the world who are forced to flee their countries due to climate change.

The program for this special session will begin with a brief introduction to the history of stop-motion animation and will conclude with a screening of several short films produced in the Valencian Community.
