Gandia Health Campus returns: innovation to transform healthcare

30 hours of uninterrupted competition, challenges and prizes to respond to the current challenges in Urban Health..

The fourth edition of the Gandia 2026 Health Campus has a date: it will be held on the following days April 30 and May 1 at the Gandia Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). The event, consolidated in the university, innovative and creative field, will bring together young talents with the aim of providing solutions to the main challenges in the field of health. 30 uninterrupted hours dedicated to technological and social innovation in prevention, wellness and entrepreneurship.

Innovation in health

Gandia Health Campus is designed to motivate and inspire students of any degree and university, as well as anyone interested in the field of healthcare innovation. It aims to foster a collaborative environment where diverse profiles converge to generate creative and viable proposals.

In this fourth edition, the hackathon will revolve around the concept of healthy cities. The challenge will be to design innovative initiatives that contribute to reduce these risks, taking as a reference an average city like Gandia and considering both health and social and urban variables. During the presentation of the event, the manager of the Gandia Health Department, Pedro Rollán, stressed the importance of approaching these problems from a global perspective. “Cardiovascular diseases are one of the main causes of death and respond to multiple factors, not only biological, but also related to the environment,” he explained.

For her part, Rosana Peiró, representative of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Regional Ministry of Health, announced the institutional backing for the hackathon through a project financed by the European Commission on the determinants of health. In this sense, he insisted on the importance of combining technological and social innovation, promoting collaboration between sectors and citizen participation.

The meeting will allow participants to acquire new skills by solving a real challenge, working in teams and with the support of mentors and industry professionals. They will also have the opportunity to present their proposals in a dynamic and enriching environment.

In this sense, the coordinator of the event, the professor of the UPV, José Millet, has highlighted the multidisciplinary nature of the event hackathon. The challenge combines creativity and data analysis, with the aim of generating viable and evidence-based proposals based on evidence. Consolidation after three successful editions

The Gandia Health Campus has established itself as a space for promoting young talent. In its previous editions (2023, 2024 and 2025), the event has brought together hundreds of participants who have developed innovative projects that stand out for their impact and creativity. This format, which combines training, teamwork and direct contact with professionals from the healthcare and technology sectors, has proven to be an effective environment for generating transformational ideas.

With this new edition, the UPV Gandia Campus will once again become a meeting point for innovation in health, promoting solutions that could mark the future of the sector.

The event is organized from the UPV promoted by the City Council of Gandia and Joint European Action Prevent NCD. It also has the collaboration of the Fisabio Foundation, the Health Department of Gandia, the Safor Salut program, the Càtedra Gandia Turisme i Promoció, the Innovation, Telefónica and Growth (HP), as well as companies in the sector such as Laberit, Dextro, ODEC, Mediphealth or Medicarama among others.
