Why are placement tests done?

The CDL placement tests are designed to guide the student to the most appropriate level for his or her needs. Each group is adapted to the specific needs of students at that level.

Are placement tests mandatory?

Placement tests are mandatory for all those who are enrolling for the first time and for those who have not been enrolled in the immediately preceding year.

What day should I take the placement test?

The completion of the tests does not imply the reservation of a place in the courses, and they are taken before the opening of the general term for new students. In the event that once the test is taken, a place is not obtained, either because the course is already full, because it is cancelled or for any other reason, the test will be valid for one year for the next three CDL language courses to be taken.

How much time do I need to take the placement test?

Placement tests last 60 minutes for the grammar and listening comprehension section and 5-7 minutes for the oral part, although the waiting time may vary depending on the number of students present that day.

What do the level tests consist of?

The written part consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and two listening comprehension exercises. The oral part is a 5-7 minute interview.

When are the placement tests performed?

Annual course level tests – september/october
Level tests intensive courses – June

How much does it cost to take the placement test?

The fee for the placement test is 10 euros. 5 euros (placement test fee) + 5 euros (UPV fees)

Is a level certificate obtained with the test?

The placement test is exclusively for the purpose of enrolling in the level indicated in the Language Center’s courses and is therefore internal. No level certificate is issued for taking the test.
