What are DELF/DALF diplomas and what are the advantages of having a DELF or DALF diploma?

Do you know DELF/DALF?

The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official French language diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of National Education and designed according to the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

What level do I sign up for?

-> I choose DELF A2 if I am able to…

●      perform simple tasks of everyday life (going to a store, asking for information, taking public transportation, etc.);

●              employ simple politeness and exchange formulas;

●      recount a past event;

●      understand a simple conversation;

●      talk about my tastes and explain why I like or dislike something;

●      describe my daily life and environment (leisure activities, work, friends, family);

●      understand a personal letter and reply (to invite, to thank, to apologize);

●      understand directions to guide me;

●      join sentences with words such as “et”, “mais”, “parce que”.

●      describe a hope, a purpose, a project;

●      give my opinion and justify it with arguments;

●      express my feelings;

●      express my agreement or disagreement and explain why;

●       understand the important elements about current affairs (newspaper article, TV news, radio program);

●      make proposals, hypotheses, give advice;

●      convince someone;

●                    to manage in unforeseen situations in everyday life or while traveling;

●      organize a presentation or speech in a logical order.

●                   understand a wide variety of long texts with a certain level of demand, as well as recognize implicit meanings, attitudes or intentions;

●      express myself fluently and spontaneously without apparent effort;.

●      always find the expression appropriate to the situation and context in social, work or academic settings;

●      produce clear, well-structured and detailed texts on topics of a certain complexity, showing a correct use of the mechanisms of organization, articulation and cohesion of the text;

●       use language flexibly and effectively, demonstrating correct use in the elaboration of complex texts and in the use of the organizational and cohesive mechanisms that allow them to be articulated.

●      understand with ease virtually everything I hear or read regardless of the length of the texts, their complexity or degree of abstraction, the degree of familiarity with the subjects they deal with, the variety of language they employ, or the need to make inferences or other operations to know their content;

●       reconstruct information and arguments from various sources, whether in spoken or written language, and present them in a coherent and summarized manner;

●      express myself spontaneously with great fluency and enormous semantic and grammatical precision, allowing me to differentiate nuances of meaning even in academic and work environments with a high degree of specialization and complexity;

●       get by in any situation where you need to understand virtually everything you hear or read.
